Relieve Your Stress - How Not Knowing Everything Can Be a Relief

As we grow up we are taught that knowing everything is a good thing. Unfortunately this belief secretly limits us and causes us stress.

This is especially in the world of work, where we're expected to know everything about our jobs, place of work, people there and how it all works. In some cases we get rewarded for the more we know.

You can become much more confident in yourself by holding a belief that not knowing is liberating. Not knowing can bring relief to you and the people around you.

Having to know everything leads us to be mind readers, so we think we know what people are thinking, feeling and saying.

Ask yourself how often you think you know what other people are thinking, feeling and saying? We can drive ourselves mad with our made up versions of what could happen based on these judgements. It can be quite enlightening to do a detox of this pattern of behaviour, that ultimately is about our need to feel we're in control of others, and therefore what will happen in the future.

You can tackle this issue by noticing in the NOW, when you are making up the past or the future based on your mind reading version about any situation.

It's always useful to remember that we are only ever in control of our reaction to circumstances, people and situations.

Take on the new belief that you may not know everything and that it's okay not to know, in fact it's a stress buster to admit it and a relief!

Practise this new belief and see what other changes it leads to in your life.

Make "I don't know" your new mantra. Give it a try for a day and see what a difference it makes to how you feel.
